DRACO Design of Resilient Architectures for Computing

Ilona (Lona) van der Linden is a PhD researcher and engineer working on challenges in AI fairness and safety. Prior to her time at UCF, she worked as the Lead Automation Engineer on Keywords Studios’ AI Team. She holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Santa Clara University, where she served as Lead AI Researcher in the Human-Computer Interaction Lab, and a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Wyoming. Her masters’ thesis, “Generating the Modal Worker: A Cross-Model Audit of Race and Gender in LLM-Generated Personas Across 41 Occupations,” was published at FAccT 2026, one of the top-tier venues for algorithmic fairness research. Lona has a background in Human-Computer Interaction and Machine Learning, and is passionate about the intersection between tech and humanity. She enjoys good coffee, a hefty sci-fi novel, and taking dance class.
